Now the festive season is well underway I wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, not to mention a prosperous and happy New Year.
I’ve made a habit over the past few years of sending CWDmedia-branded Christmas cards to each of my clients. This year, however, I’ve elected to make a donation to a charity that is dear to me instead – the Depression Alliance.
The Depression Alliance brings people together to end the loneliness and isolation of depression. They also campaign to end the stigma of depression and to raise awareness of what it means to live with it. For some, Christmas can be a very lonely time of year and as somebody who has suffered with depression in the past, I’m glad to help in some small way.
Just a quick update to advise that I’m moving house on Saturday 26 July and will have restricted Internet and e-mail access for a few days while I’m waiting for my new telephone line and broadband to be activated.
Please bear with me – I will endeavour to respond to all enquiries at the earliest possible convenience!
After I’d helped them with the odd flyer design here and there, the band approached me prior to going into the studio with a view to putting together the album artwork and supporting promotional materials.
The album artwork came together well, incorporating photography bySteve Gerrard and illustration by Joshua Farnell. It was supplemented by flyers, posters and a huge backdrop banner as seen on Sunday night when the band headlined Wolverhampton’s Wulfrun Hall – a venue I’m no stranger to myself after my time with VERT. The bill also featured fellow CWDmedia clients The Black Hounds and it was great to see the Midlands rock music scene is in such rude health!
The Wulfrun Hall date was part of a UK tour the band is currently midway through in support of ‘Impera’. Check out the CWDmedia Facebook page to see the finished artwork.
The Virgin Money London Marathon is one of the great British sporting events, combining elite athletics, mass participation and record-breaking fundraising in one race. The course is a gruelling 26 miles 385 yards long, passing through the streets of London from Blackheath to the famous finish line at The Mall.
“The support I have received from Steve at CWDmedia in my various charity fundraising endeavors over the last few years has been amazing,” said Andy, “Each and every time he has stepped up and done what he can to contribute towards the cause. Sir, I salute you!”
It’s a pleasure to lend the support of CWDmedia to the cause and help Andy and the team towards their target. You can support them too by donating online here.
As the saying goes, “New Year, New You”. Well, in addition to mentally committing to get fitter, eat cleaner and rid myself of my bad habits, I thought I’d give the CWDmedia site something of a makeover ahead of what I hope will be a busy year on the freelancing front.
Besides the facelift, you probably won’t notice an awful lot different with CWDmedia save for the introduction of a blog, in which I intend to provide straightforward and practical advice, ideas and tips on all things graphic design, photography, copywriting and marketing. There’s already a few posts – feel free to browse and, if you’ve something positive to add to any, leave a comment!
I’m delighted to say that artwork was completed for Midlands-based rock outfit Martyr De Mona‘s forthcoming album ‘IMPERA’ recently. Featuring the excellent photography of Steve Gerrard and illustration of Joshua Farnell, the artwork features an eight page rollfold inlay and I’m really pretty darn proud of the outcome.
It goes hand-in-hand with what is a really excellent album (produced by Romesh Dodangoda, whose credits include Funeral For A Friend, Motorhead, Bullet For My Valentine and CWDmedia clients Nya). Fans of Alter Bridge, Alice in Chains and Helmet are going to love it when it’s released in March on In At The Eye Records!
I’ve supported the design of the album artwork by producing the artwork for Martyr De Mona’s album launch show at Wolverhampton’s Wulfrun Hall on Sunday 20 April 2014, where support comes from CWDmedia clients The Black Hounds. Tickets are already on sale – visit www.wolvescivic.co.uk or www.martyrdemona.com.
It was delightful to see CWDmedia clients Xtreme Fitness voted best gym in the UK by users of www.gymbuzz.com. Lee and the team up in Cumbria have worked themselves to the bone getting the business off the ground and this recognition is fully justified as far as I’m concerned – congratulations!
